Holt Online Learning - General Information

What is Holt Online Learning?

Holt Online Learning connects you and your students to our Online Editions, Holt Online Essay Scoring, Quantum Artificial Intelligence Tutors, and other exciting new eLearning resources.

Who is eligible for a Holt Online Learning Product?

In order to register for a Holt Online Learning component you must meet three conditions:

  1. You must use or have purchased Holt textbooks.
  2. There must be an online component for your program (see the next FAQ)
  3. You must have a Teacher's Edition or Holt Key Code for the program(s) that you wish to register. Contact your school or district's technology coordinator if you do not know whether or not your school has obtained Holt Key Codes.

Which products currently have online components?

To see an up-to-date list of current products that have online programs, visit this website: http://my.hrw.com/support/my/product_list.jsp

Why does registration require either a Teacher's Edition or a Key Code? Why both options?

Holt Customers/Teachers who live and teach in the U.S. will have the option to register directly for online programs, products, modules, and learning management tools by way of their Teacher's Edition ISBN or by Holt Key Code.

Other Subscribers to Holt Online Learning programs or products will receive a Holt Key Code upon purchase of an online program, product, module, or learning management tools. The Key Code will allow purchasers to register and access their subscription(s) in a secure manner.

What is a Key Code?

A Key Code allows Holt to distribute access to one or more online products. Key codes are 19 characters in length and contain both letters and numbers. Key Codes are not case- or hyphen-sensitive. In other words, you will not have to observe upper-/lower-case letters and you can enter a Key Code with or without hyphens.

According to terms of purchase, your Key Code (and Subscription) may have a limited "shelf life," meaning that your Key Code may only be viable for a certain period of time. Also, if you have purchased access to a program or product for a specific period of time, your subscription will begin upon registration.

Normally, your district or school's technology coordinator will be responsible for disseminating Key Codes to Teachers who are eligible.

If you are not a Teacher in a U.S. School, however, Holt will email you a Key Code within 24 to 48 hours of your purchase.

How do I get a Holt Key Code if I need one?

If you are a Teacher in a U.S. School and your district or school has purchased a Holt Online program or product, you should contact your district or school's technology coordinator to see if you are eligible to receive a Key Code. Please note that if you have a current Teacher's Edition for a textbook program that your school or district has purchased (as well as textbook program that has an online component as well; see FAQ 3 above), you can register if you have a Teacher's Edition at hand.
Otherwise, if you are interested in purchasing an online product, you can do one of the following:

  • Contact customer service between 8:30 a.m. - 7 p.m. EST, Monday - Friday at (800) 225-5425 or online
  • Contact a Holt Sales Representative
  • Purchase your product online
You will be e-mailed a key code within 24 to 48 hours of your purchase.

Why do I need to identify myself as being a Teacher in a U.S. School, a Teacher in an International School, a Tutorial Service, Home School, or Private Individual with a Key Code?

Holt maintains a database of all Schools within the United States by Zip Code. We are therefore able to facilitate the registration process by asking U.S. Teachers to first submit their School's Zip code and then to identify the school at which they teach.

If you are a Customer/Subscriber who is not considered a Teacher in a U.S. School, we are not able to automatically derive the school or institute at which you teach (information that is valuable in authenticating your eligibility for registration).

In both cases, the information that you submit during online registration is kept private.

For more information about our Privacy Policy, please see: http://www.hrw.com/privacy/index.htm

Why do you need my E-mail address?

In the event that you forget or lose your password to Holt Online Learning, you can automatically request your that your password hint be sent to you. We also require your E-mail address in the event we need to contact you should a technical difficulty arise.

If I check that I would like notification of Web site events, teaching tips, and product information via E-mail, will I be "spammed?"

No. We would, however, like to periodically notify you of relevant instructional opportunities as they develop.

What do I do if I lose or can't remember my account name or password?

If you forget your password, check your files for your print out of the Registration Confirmation Page. If you cannot find it, check your E-mail for your Holt User Name and Password. Search your E-Mail for either FROM: Holt Online Learning Registration or SUBJECT: Your Holt Online Learning User Name and Password.
