What is MindPoint Quiz Show?

MindPoint Quiz Show is an interactive game that can be played as a single user, multiple users, or as teams.  Quiz Show draws its content from ExamView question banks. 


Installing MindPoint Quiz Show

To install MindPoint Quiz Show, insert the One-Stop Planner CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive of your computer, click MindPoint Quiz Show in the Tools list on the One-Stop Planner home screen, and follow the directions on the screen.

Caution: Do not change the default folder for installing MindPoint Quiz Show.

I can't get Quiz Show to install or launch from my ¡Exprésate! Level 3 One-Stop Planner CD! What do I do?

The 2008 ¡Exprésate! Level 3 One-Stop Planner was manufactured with a Quiz Show installer that does not correctly launch from the Home Screen. Use the following workaround to launch the application from its folder on the CD.

For Mac Users:

  1. Insert a Teacher’s One-Stop Planner CD disc into the CD-ROM drive.
  2. Double-click the CD icon (e.g., Expresate_L3_One-Stop_D1) that appears on the desktop. This will open the OSP CD-ROM.
  3. Click through the disc folders until you reach the location: \installers\macintosh\mindpoint quiz show
  4. Click on the application (install_quiz_show_mac). This will launch the Quiz Show installer.
  5. Make sure to choose “Yes” when prompted to add Quiz Show icons to the Dock.
  6. To launch Quiz Show after installation, click on the Quiz Show Dock icon; do not click the Quiz Show link from the home screen.

For Windows Users:

  1. Insert a Teacher’s One-Stop Planner CD disc into the CD-ROM drive.
  2. The One Stop Planner home screen will automatically appear.
  3. Click on Start > My Computer
  4. Right-click on the OSP CD title (e.g., Expresate_L3_One-Stop_D1) and select “Explore”
  5. Click through the disc folders until you reach the location D:\installers\windows\mindpoint quiz show (disk drive may be designated as other than drive D)
  6. Click on the application (install_quiz_show_win). This will launch the Quiz Show installer.
  7. Make sure to choose “Yes” when prompted to add Quiz Show icons to your desktop.
  8. To launch Quiz Show after installation, click on the Quiz Show desktop icon; do not click the Quiz Show link from the home screen.


Getting Started with MindPoint Quiz Show

Windows:
To start MindPoint Quiz Show, install it from the One Stop Planner CD (if you haven't already), then click Start --> All Programs --> MindPoint Quiz Show, then select MindPoint Quiz Show.
Macintosh:
Click the MindPoint Quiz Show icon in the dock or on your desktop. If you do not see this icon, locate the MindPoint Quiz Show folder on your hard drive. Double-click the MindPoint Quiz Show icon.

What content is used to create Quiz Show games?

MindPoint Quiz Show utilizes the same content type (question banks, or .bnk files) as ExamView.


What kind of reporting does MindPoint Quiz Show offer?

The "View Class Reports" option on the Instructor Utilities main menu allows you to view and print reports showing student performance.  Reports show student performance in a specific class or all classes.


Can I create new questions for MindPoint Quiz Show?

Yes, the process is nearly the same as adding questions to ExamView - in fact, you use ExamView to open the Quiz Show question bank add new questions - just be sure that you are updating the files for Quiz Show, in the MindPoint Quiz Show program folder.

What is the difference between MindPoint Quiz Show MS and MindPoint Quiz Show SE?

The MS edition is geared towards a younger user, while the SE edition is geared toward a more mature user; functionally, they are the same.  MS, for example, uses brighter colors, while SE has "edgier" audio responses.
