How to Use the Online Editions

The Online Textbook contains the complete text for Elements of Language. To find and read the Online Textbook pages you want, use the menus described below.

Course Menu
The course menu lists all of the textbook chapters available in your course. To select the chapter you want, click "Chapter menu" on the appropriate row.

Chapter Menu
The chapter menu lists the Online Textbook pages available for the chapter you selected. To read textbook pages, click the page numbers from the appropriate row. You can either read the complete chapter at once, or read a smaller group of pages. A complete chapter will take longer to download than a smaller group of pages.

Reading Online Textbook Pages
You can read Online Textbook pages just as you would any online document, using the scroll bar or other navigational tools as you read.

• To return to the chapter menu, click the yellow "Chapter Menu" button that appears at the top and bottom of every page.
• To return to the course menu, click "Course Menu" in the upper- right-hand corner of every chapter menu screen.
