  • On the Student Intervention Report, if the student has not submitted an answer, the report will now display an icon for ‘Not Attempted’. If a student submits an incorrect answer, the report will display an icon for “Incorrect”.
  • On an Assignment Intervention Report, in the Reports area, clicking on a student name will reveal more assignment information for that student in particular.
  • In a Student Test Report, when clicking on an individual question item, a bug sometimes resulted in the display of the wrong question. This bug has been fixed.

Can I access my Class information from HOLT ONLINE ASSESSMENT?

You can access your Class information from My Subscriptions page. The My Subscriptions window will remain open after you select the Assessment button. So, if you’re already inside HOLT ONLINE ASSESSMENT, you should be able to still access your My Subscriptions hub page.
Keep in mind that any changes in your Class information will only apply to future assignments.
When you log-out from either window, the other window will close also.

When I access HOLT ONLINE ASSESSMENT, why don’t I have any classes to choose from?

To use HOLT ONLINE ASSESSMENT, you must have created at least one class in the Class Manager. To create a class, return to the My Subscriptions page and choose Add a Class.

When I access HOLT ONLINE ASSESSMENT, after choosing my class from the dropdown menu, why don’t I see the book(s) that I am using with my class(es)?

You must have associated at least one book with each class you’ve created in the Class Manager.  Return to the My Subscriptions page and choose Edit a Class.  Then, check the book(s) you would like to associate with the class. Click Submit.  These books will now appear in the Books dropdown menu when you return to the HOLT ONLINE ASSESSMENT.

ASSIGNMENTS

About Assignments
Use Holt Online Assessment to assign tests, quizzes, and other assignments. Some online textbooks include Holt Online Assessment assignments in the following categories:

  • Tests and Quizzes associated with your online textbooks.
  • Course Interventions that measure student readiness for the course associated with your online textbooks.
  • State Standards-Based Intervention that measure student proficiency in academic skills, for states employing standards tests.
  • Teacher Uploaded Tests that can be assigned in Holt Online Assessment when you upload a test you create in ExamView.

Regardless of the category of an assignment, the process is essentially the same:

    • Choose the class and book.
    • Choose the assignment category and grade.
    • Click Submit.

The assessment resources associated with your selected class and book will appear.

From this list, you may be able to choose Assign to assign this resource to students, View to preview a test, and/or Show Details to view and/or modify settings for the assignment.

In the Student View, after selecting the ‘View Assignment’ link, why don’t I see the assignment I just assigned?

Try changing the ‘Assignment Due:’ drop-down selection to ‘All’. The default is ‘This Week’, however, if you’ve assigned the test to be ‘Always Available’ it will only show up if you select ‘All’ in the Assignment Due drop-down.

Go to the Reports tab, drill down to the Student Test Report. There you’ll find a “Submit for Scoring” button. Clicking that button will submit any answers that were saved by the system for that student and assignment.

My students are having assignments automatically assigned.  Why is this happening?

Your Intervention Preferences determine if Intervention tutorials and post-tests will be automatically assigned.   Click the Preferences tab in the HOLT ONLINE ASSESSMENT, then click the Interventions tab. Modify the Auto-Assign setting, then click Submit.

If HOLT ONLINE ASSESSMENT scores tests automatically, then why does it say ‘Score Now’ on my Assignments made page?

To view pre- and post-test results, choose Reports and choose an Intervention report.

From the Preferences home page, you can specify settings for your time zone and score format, how many times students can view and score tests, school year dates, and interventions.

How do I set my local time zone and define my scoring format for tests and quizzes?
Set your preferred time zone and score format in General Preferences. Set your local time zone so you know when your students begin and end assignments according to your local time. Set your score to show either percentage of answers correct (for example, 90%) or percentage and raw score to see the percentage and actual number of questions answered correctly of the total number (for example, 90% - 9/10).
To set your time zone and score format:

  • From the Preferences home page, click General Preferences.
  • From the drop-down menu, select your time zone.
  • Choose a score format.
  • Click Submit.

How do I change my default Test preferences, like test-taking, viewing, and formatting options?

The Default Test Preferences determine how your students view and take tests in HOLT ONLINE ASSESSMENT. You can set your preferences in these categories:

  • Test-taking and reporting: Specify how many times students may take the test, whether to randomize the order of test questions, how many times students may score the test, and how to record the score for the assignment.
  • Viewing results: Specify whether to allow students to see their test scores for this test, to see the test after it is scored, to see their scores immediately after scoring, and when students can see the correct answers for missed items.
  • Test formatting: Specify whether your students can see the point value of items when they take the test, the numbering scheme for questions (A, B, C, D; A, B, C, D alternating with F, G, H, I; A, B, C, D alternating with F, G, H, J; or 1, 2, 3, 4), and whether to show bubblesheet grids for numeric response questions.

To set your Default Test Preferences:
1.   From the Preferences home page, click Default Test Preferences.
The Default Test Settings page appears.
2.   Set your preferences.
3.   Click Submit.
Note: These settings will affect future assignments only.
You can also override these settings on individual assignments.

How do I set up my Calendar with information like school year beginning/end, grading periods, and holidays?
Your Calendar Preferences determine which days are displayed as holidays in your Calendar, and when your grading periods begin and end.
To set your Calendar preferences:

  • From the Preferences home page, click Calendar.
  • Select the holidays.
  • Choose the beginning and ending dates for the school year.
  • Choose the number of grading periods you want to use.

If you choose more than one, a text box and drop-down menus will appear for additional grading periods.
Note: The default is one. You may enter up to 12.
In the text box, enter a name for each grading period.
Note: If you do not enter a name for the grading period, HOLT ONLINE ASSESSMENT names the grading period "Term 1, Term 2" and so on.
Choose the beginning and ending dates for the grading periods.
Click Submit.
Note: Any days selected here apply only to the class selected, unless you click Apply to all classes.

How can I adjust the settings that control the automatic assignments and tests for Interventions?
For online textbooks that have Intervention resources, Intervention Preferences determine the number of days after the pre-test that the post-test will be due, whether to automatically assign follow-up resources, and the minimum proficiency level for the skills or standards.
To set your Intervention preferences:
1.   From the Preferences home page, click Intervention.
The Intervention Preferences page appears.
2.   Choose the Class and Book for which to set the Intervention Preferences.
3.   Select the number of days between pre-test and post-test.
4.   Select whether to automatically assign follow-up resources based on pre-test results (to turn off auto-assignment).
5.   Select the minimum proficiency level for assigning follow-up resources.
Click Submit.
